So after getting to my first Sound Tribe show back in Feb, I must say I'm hooked. I've been listening to these guys regularly since then, and have downloaded 10 or 12 recordings from the collection here.

Knowing that the band sells their recordings, I have decided that it's time to check 1 or 2 out. -- I've spent a countless hours listening to these free recordings, and it's time to support the band more than the $20 I paid for my ticket 3 months ago. :)

So I'm looking for some recommendations from the large catalog of live recordings they have built up. Anyone want to point out some highlights? High energy? Great improv?

Some comments about the STS9Music.com website:

- it's a great idea to let you buy individual songs. LivePhish and LiveDownloads should follow this model.

- the page itself crawls. I don't really have this trouble on other websites, so I think it's just a really slow design that they used or they just don't have a lot of bandwidth dedicated to HTML. It's so slow that I have to leave the catalog open and look at each individual setlist in new windows. Argh...

- wish they would let fans submit reviews.

TIA,

-Brad

I've got a friend who has bought quite a few of the '05 shows, and she has yet to play me something I didn't think was hot. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the newer stuff.

I happened to be at 12/29/01, so I'll throw a plug in for that show. It's unlike any other STS9 show I've ever heard, with some great improv and strange song choices.

Thanks J.C., I'll definitely give that 2001 show a shot! 2005 has seemed like a good year so far, most shows have some great highlights that I've tried.

I would look more to the multi-tracks they have been releasing, like the recent Warfield show (4-15-05). They are delineated as multi-track when you click on the link. While 12-19-01 is excellent, the audio version, IMO, is incredible. I would suggest venturing into the newer action, where the soundboard quality truly captures the digital details.
Happy hunting,
Jamie

Thankfully, this seems to be fixed! :)

Mang, so I just tried to head to this site for the first time in the last year or 2 and find it redirects me to some really crappy looking glaring white 1320records.com site. Too bad, I really liked the old site... Someone needs to tell the designer that color is good for you. ;-)
